- Stax Records commemorated the seventh anniversary of the 1965 Watts riots with an all-star benefit concert at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. More than 100,000 fans attended to hear Isaac Hayes, The Bar-Kays, The Staple Singers, Kim Weston and other artists. The event became known as Wattstax.
