Description

“School’s Out” reached No. 1 on the UK singles chart. Cooper said the song was inspired by the question of what the three happiest minutes of his life were. He identified Christmas morning and the final three minutes of the last day of school as such moments.

    After a long delay following the opening act, concert organizers at CNE Grandstand in Toronto announced that Alice Cooper could not perform due to illness. Angry fans began tearing out folding chairs and throwing them onto the stage, sparking a riot involving around 1,400 people. Damage was estimated at $20,000 to $25,000, 31 people were arrested, and 12 people were hospitalized. A year later, Cooper said he had cancelled the concert because of an asthma attack, which he claimed he had not experienced since he was six years old.

    Alice Cooper announced to CNN that he had decided to run for President of the United States and had chosen actor Tom Hanks as his running mate. Jokingly, he gave his campaign slogan as “I can do nothing as well as they can do nothing” and declared that his platform was “non-existent”. It was part of a long-running joke in which Cooper has claimed to be running for president every four years since the release of his song “Elected” in 1972.
