- Boris Gardiner began a three-week run at number one on the UK singles chart with his version of the song “I Want to Wake Up with You”, written by Nashville songwriter Ben Peters. The song was first recorded in 1980 by American country singer Mac Davis under the title “I Wanta Wake Up With You”. Gardiner's version became the third best-selling single of 1986 in the UK and also reached number one in Australia.
